May/Jun 2000

This issue reports on a school budget shortfall, new sports facilities, and library planning. It introduces DNet, later known as VOTE411, and features former LWVND President Genevieve Durben.

Jan/Feb 2001

This issue reports on support for a state human rights commission, a study of election laws, and the League’s position favoring direct election of the president. Local government reports cover housing inspections, downtown planning, and school budget pressures. It also highlights cooperation between area superintendents and features Kathie Kvalvog and Diane Meyer.

Sept/Oct 2001

This issue announces the start of the League’s local study of city boards and commissions. Local government reports cover zoning and annexation, sewer financing, flood response, school and library budgets, and changes in school board election timing. It also highlights Minnesota legislative updates and explains the Fargo School Board’s policy governance model.

Mar/Apr 2002

This issue recognizes the League of Women Voters United States’ 82nd anniversary and outlines plans for National Convention participation, monthly meetings, the Women in Action conference, and the Annual Freedom Lecture. Local government reports cover Fargo City Commission appointments, school facility planning, and findings from the League’s study of appointed boards and commissions. Nov/Dec 2002

This issue reports on League-sponsored candidate forums during the 2002 election cycle, voter training, and trade with Cuba. It reprints a letter to the President on the United Nations. Local government reports include a library board fiscal review and school board adoption of guiding principles.

May/Jun/Jul/Aug 2003

This issue reports LWVRRV positions on local boards and commissions and school sizes. It covers Dome committee appointments, ordinance review, and school facility discussions. It also reprints an LWVUS lobbying request on affordable housing and discusses the Patriot Act’s impact on libraries.

Jan/Feb 2004

This issue reports adoption of an LWVRRV position on local boards and commissions and sponsorship of an educational session on Presidential Preference caucuses. It also notes LWVUS partnership with the United Nations Foundation on “The People Speak,” collaboration with WWE on voter outreach, and a call for presidential candidates to fix public financing.

Sept/Oct 2004

This issue reports LWVUS action at the 46th Biennial National Convention, including adoption of the national program agenda and debate on civil liberties, campaign finance, and voting systems. It also launches a local study on fees charged to public school students and their impact on families.

Apr/May 2005

This issue continues the LWVRRV study of fees and costs charged to public school students and their impact on families. It reprints an LWVUS letter to the U.S. Senate opposing efforts to weaken the Clean Air Act and reports on the State Convention.

Jan/Feb 2006

This issue reports LWVUS launch of a public education program to safeguard U.S. democracy and initiatives to improve U.S. election workforce performance. It also profiles Mary Tintes and Carol Sawicki.

Sept/Oct 2006

This issue reports an LWVUS alliance with the Overseas Vote Foundation to support overseas and military voters and reprints an LWVUS letter urging Representatives to pass the Meehan–Shays presidential public financing legislation.

Mar/Apr 2007

This issue reports a League study and upcoming consensus process on voter turnout and voter involvement. It also reprints an LWVUS letter to Senator Patrick Leahy supporting the OPEN Government Act of 2007.

Jan/Feb 2008

This issue reports an LWVMN consensus proposal on judicial selection in Minnesota and a League consensus meeting on immigration. It includes redistricting coverage and notes LWVRRV comments on election site changes.

Sept/Oct 2008

This issue reports an Otto Bremer Foundation grant to LWVRRV for strategic planning and announces the Annual Freedom Lecture and collaborative candidate forums. It provides a notice of League committees and includes a profile of Phyllis Emmel.

Mar/Apr 2009

This issue reports League interviews with Minnesota legislators and advocacy at WE Rise on state legislative issues. It documents a League discussion group on homelessness and its impact on children.

Dec 2009/Jan 2010/Feb 2010

This issue reports LWVRRV advocacy meetings with Minnesota congressional staff and outlines LWVUS positions on reproductive choice and health care reform, including a statement on U.S. House passage of the Affordable Health Care for America Act. It also profiles Barb Headrick, Alice Hauan, and Portia Danielson.

Dec 2010/Jan 2011/Feb 2011

This issue reports LWVRRV participation in naturalization ceremonies, including congratulating new citizens, and reprints LWVUS remarks at a DISCLOSE Act Coalition press event. It also notes League meetings and organizational updates.

This issue marks the League’s 80th anniversary and welcomes new Board members. Local government reports cover cell tower placement, flood damage, airport improvements, and school staffing. It also highlights members Colleen Herman and Sherbanoo Aziz.

This issue includes the League’s nonpartisan policy and a member letter on the Electoral College. Local government reports cover zoning, school closures tied to budget shortfalls, and concerns about equal opportunity for minorities. It also features Barbara Headrick.
