January 6, 2012
First Friday: The War on Voting

Date: Friday, January 6, 2012
Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: Sons of Norway, 722 2nd Ave, Fargo, ND
Topic: The War On Voting
Speaker: Dr. Barbara Headrick

The links below are for those of you interested in details on the effort to limit voting access via Voter ID laws, the attacks on early voting and the phony charges of rampant voter fraud that are threatening the ability of millions of eligibility voters to exercise their constitutional right.

Voter ID laws have even led to the statewide League in Florida to stop registering voters due to fear of penalties for false registrations or delays in turning in registration forms. This issue strikes at the core of the mission of the League of Women Voters and should be a concern for all citizens. Voting is a right not a privilege.

Dear Friends,

The Bismarck-Mandan League of Women Voters and Dakota Media Access share a common mission: "To Support and encourage the INFORMED participation of all citizens in our governmental processes." This means helping provide a means for everyone to learn more, to become informed, but not indoctrinated, locally, regionally and nationally in who, how, when, where and why our city, state and county really work, so we can help democracy serve all our US citizens better.

If any of this fits you, we have an invitation. Stop by the Dakota Media Access Studios, located at 307 North 4th Street in Bismarck, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15th, to meet some of the current members, ask questions and find out where you could fit in. We will be providing a light lunch of sandwiches and salad.

We hope you can join us! If you can't and still would like to be part of the solution, we have enclosed a membership application for you to return. Please feel free to contact us to find out more about the LWV.
