On Monday, October 24, 2011, the LWVRRV held a Citizen's Information Forum on the ND Special Legislative Session .
Legislators participating in the forum were: Senator Judy Lee, Senator Tim Mathern, Representative Scot Kelsh and Representative Al Carlson.

Discussed were those primary issues (healthcare exchanges, disaster relief, legislative redistricting and the UND nickname/logo) to be on the agenda of the special session to begin on November 7 in Bismarck.

Proposed maps of the redistricting were available to attendees, as well as copies of 2 proposed bills from Senator Mathern. (in pdf format)

Questions were fielded from the audience and the event was broadcast on local cable access channels.

Citizen's Information Forum

Legislators: Senator Judy Lee of West Fargo, Senator Tim Mathern of Fargo, and Representatives Scot Kelsh and Al Carlson.

The League of Women Voters of the Red River Valley will hold a public Citizen’s Information Forum on Monday, October 24th, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., in the Fargo City Commission Chamber, 200 3rd St N. Discussion will be limited to issues slated to be addressed by the ND Legislature in the special session to begin on November 7.

Legislators participating in this forum are Senator Judy Lee of West Fargo, Senator Tim Mathern of Fargo, and Representatives Scot Kelsh and Al Carlson, both of Fargo.

The four primary issues slated to be considered by ND legislators during the Special Session are legislative redistricting, health insurance exchanges, the UND logo and nickname and disaster relief. Other issues to be addressed in the special session include new Medicaid eligibility software and the need for additional Highway Patrol troopers in western North Dakota.

Each legislator participating in the Citizen’s Information Forum will make an opening statement about how they believe the primary issues will be addressed during the Special Session. Written questions will then be taken from the audience with equal time for the legislators to respond.

The event will be broadcast live on the Cableone access channel in Fargo and re-broadcast at later times.
